They say anger is a secondary emotion. It's, uh. It's the sliver above the surface. Something we use to protect ourselves when we feel vulnerable. Because we're hurt. Or scared.
That's actually a relief to hear. I wasn't sure if maybe I was being unreasonable or not. Logically, I know it makes sense but emotions often have little to do with logic in most situations.
They're the opposite of logical, most of the time.
Why am I frustrated at myself? I'm the start of all of this. I let myself get killed, which got you killed, which almost got someone else killed. If I'd stopped that one domino from tipping, you wouldn't be going through this.

Inside the paper, a cube similar to this, patterned with symbols and shapes slightly raised from the surface, able to be manipulated into a series of shapes and taken apart. On the inside of the paper, another scratched message: ]
[ One night, when Matt goes back to his room to retire for the evening, he will find a present waiting for him on his pillow. It's an expensive bottle of whiskey (unopened, even!) with a nice red scarf wrapped around it. One that can even wrap around his head rather comfortably if he wants.
